Water main break causes evacuations and damage in Northeast Philly

It appears that the Water Department was out prior to today and did some work. There was a heavy plate where the street was dug up. The water rushed out from under the plate . No injuries were immediately reported. The Fire Department was on scene until the incident was declared under control by the Water Department. traffic was re routed around the area, which lead to congestion, as a good many of the streets are one way.
The area surrounding the break will closed closed through the weekend, until the main can be replaced and the road patched.
