March 10, 2019 is the absolute last day that you can partake in the annual Spring ritual in town, that is the Philadelphia Flower Show.  It is being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, located at 12th and Arch streets in center city Philadelphia.  Once inside, you can see large scale  landscapes that consist of elaborate  props to accentuate the theme of “Flower Power”.  Those two words conjure up thoughts of the 1960’s and Woodstock. Yes, you can see a tribute to the music festival on it’s 50th anniversary.  You can also see a huge wheel in a garden, that was used for generating power, as water poured onto it.

There are also smaller displays of arrangements as well as lots of individual plants that are on display.  Experts will be happy to answer your questions.  Lots of those questions  people may have require the results of a soil sample, which is not done there.

On the far end of the exhibit floor, you can see merchants selling things for home and garden. Everything from furniture to tools for clean up. you will also find merchants selling lots of knick knacks for your house or garden. With the weather overcast and showers going on through the day, this is your best bet for something to do. If you get downtown early enough, you can catch the St. Paddy’s Day Parade. You might also want to check out the Philadelphia Travel Show which is being held in a different part of the convention center.  It’s a great way to spend a Sunday.
