The following is a combination of two press releases from The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation released late last week about infrastructure work being performed in the Lower Bucks area.

Nighttime lane closures on U.S. 1 and Street Road in Bensalem will resume next week as construction there continues.

Both roadways, along with Business U.S. 1, also will see some daytime lane closures as crews begin work on the project’s second phase.

The closures will be in both directions on both roadways for PennDOT’s project to rebuild, widen and improve a 1.3-mile section of the highway in Bensalem.

Monday, June 10, through Saturday, June 15, from 8 p.m.-6 a.m., northbound and southbound U.S. 1 will be reduced to a single lane between Rockhill Drive and Old Lincoln Highway. Street Road will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between Old Lincoln Highway and Kingston Way.

The Bensalem project is the first phase of an effort to rebuild and widen U.S. 1, as well as replace aging bridges and install safety enhancements, on four miles of the highway from just north of Philadelphia to just north of Rt. 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown and Langhorne.

U.S. 1, Business U.S. 1 and Rockhill Drive also will be restricted next week for soil boring work in advance of the project’s second phase, PennDOT officials said. The work schedule is:

  • Sunday, June 9, through Friday, June 14, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Fairhill Avenue
  • Sunday, June 9, through Friday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., lane closures will be in place on Business U.S. 1 in both directions between Bristol Road and Boat Avenue
  • Sunday, June 9, through Friday, June 14, from 9 a.m to 3 p.m., and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., lane closures will be in place on Rockhill Drive in both directions between Business U.S. 1 and Neshaminy Boulevard.
