Arrest Made in Fatal Hit and Run Death of Veteran



NORRISTOWN, PA. — Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Norristown Police Chief Mark E. Talbot, announce the arrest of Nemias Perez Severiano, age 31, for an accident involving death and other charges related to the November 10, 2019, hit and run accident involving Samuel W. Jackson, who later died of his injuries.

At 6:24 p.m., November 10, 2019, Norristown Police responded to Astor and West Oak Streets for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a fleeing vehicle. Responding Officers found Mr. Jackson lying on Astor Street near his car in critical condition and unresponsive. He was transported to Mercy Suburban Hospital by emergency medical personal and was pronounced dead at 6:59 p.m. Following an autopsy by Forensic Pathologist Ian Hood on November 11, 2019, Mr. Jackson’s death was determined to have been caused by multiple injuries as a result of the crash.

Perez Severiano was arrested and arraigned today before Magisterial District Judge Walter F. Gadzicki, Jr. Bail was set at $200,000 which was not posted and Perez Severiano is being held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing will be held on November 22, 2019 at 9:00 a.m., before Magisterial District Judge Gregory Scott at his court located at 601 DeKalb Street, Suite 100 in Norristown.

The case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Allison Ruth of the Norristown Community Justice Unit.
