A Philadelphia Police Officer suffered a graze wound to her hand  when she confronted a male armed with a gun. The incident happened just after 10;00 AM at Torresdale Avenue near Howell street.  Information is very preliminary and subject to change as more facts are confirmed.   The officer  was investigating a male with a gun and this male  got on a SEPTA bus. He then was confronted by the officer and  pulled out a handgun and began firing at the officer.

The officer returned fire striking the male. He was taken to Temple Hospital and the officer was taken  to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. Neighbors ducked out of the way as bullets flew through the Wissinoming neighborhood.  One vehicle on the corner of Torresdale and Comly Street was struck by gunfire. Police were notified of this  but it took them over 20 minutes to cordon that area off. When they finally did,  the cordon restricted people from walking down Comly Street.  People that were on Torresdale Ave could walk right up to the vehicle in spite of the cordon. .
