Out of caution over COVID-19 the Bristol Township St. Patrick’s Day Parade and all events associated with this parade will not take  place this year. This follows in line what Philadelphia and other cities have done.  Parade organizers and county commissioners met this evening and decided this was in the best interest for all involved.

Large gatherings across the globe have been curtailed.  Many concerts, conventions and sporting events have been cancelled. All NCAA basketball games will be played to an empty arena.  Parades are held outdoors but people are grouped together. Cancelling the parade may seem like panicking, however by doing so, it takes away the risk that someone can come into contact with a Coronavirus carrier.

Bucks County has two confirmed cases of COVID-19 and health officials fear there could be a pandemic across the United States. or even globally. Many people who have contracted this virus have made a complete recovery.  Only a few people have died from it.  Many people are going to go to bars and clubs on St. Patrick’s Day. . The Philadelphia Pipe and Drum Corps are chartering buses to go downtown in Philadelphia for an unofficial march around LOVE Park.

This parade in Bristol would have been the 32nd year it was held.  Irish Pride and Public Service was going to be this years theme.
