Celebrate Franklin Square’s 15th Birthday July 31 2021

WHAT:          Franklin Square celebrates 15th Birthday with a full day of fun for all ages

Historic Philadelphia, Inc., the non-profit that funds, manages, and operates Franklin Square celebrates the 15th Birthday of this beautiful public space with a full day and evening of fun. On Saturday, July 31, in addition to Philly Mini Golf presented by IBEW Local 98 and Parx Liberty Carousel, highlights from the Summer Splash will be showcased throughout the day.


10 am – 12 pm      Free crafts for kids

10 am – 10 pm      Fun games such as cornhole, Connect4, and more in the Games Tent

10:30 – 11:30 am  Free Yoga in the Square Class

11 – 11:15 am       Storytime in the Square

11 am – 4 pm        Once Upon A Nation Storytelling Benches: one of the three one-of-a-kind award-winning Historic District Once Upon A Nation Storytelling Benches is in Franklin Square, telling riveting stories of our nation’s history in the places where they actually happened. Specially-trained, uniformed storytellers delight and entertain with free, short 3-to-5-minute stories while sharing the secrets of Philadelphia’s and America’s history.

11:30 am               Guided Story Walk (bilingual Mandarin and English)

12 – 10 pm            Franklin Square Fountain Show, with daily performances every 30 minutes the 181-year-old historic fountain dazzles with a choreographed water spectacular with lights. Fountain jets dance magically with dramatic lighting and music as LED lights glisten for visitors. Guests visiting the park day or night can enjoy choreographed “performances,” that showcase the historic infrastructure of the country’s oldest continuously operating fountain. Each performance is a selection of one of six songs. FREE.

12 pm                    Happy Birthday, Franklin Square! with Benjamin Franklin and free animal crackers for kids

12:15 pm               Philadelphia Suns Lion Dance Performance

1 pm                      Dance Performance by Step II Dance Studio

1:30 pm                 Kids’ Dance Party

4 pm                      Dance Performance by Concierge Ball Room

5 – 9:30 pm           Live Music from Danah Koch

5 – 10 pm              Franklin Square Beer Garden by Cescaphe – NEW beer and cocktail garden under a beautiful tent with rustic garden chic décor, chandeliers, delicious food, and more

·       Franklin Square Beer Garden by Cescaphe – NEW beer and cocktail garden under a beautiful tent with rustic garden chic décor, chandeliers, live music, games, food, and more (Thursdays – Saturdays)

·       Summer Splash Wednesdays – Free yoga classes and free dance lessons

·       Summer Splash Thursdays – Live DJ music

·       Summer Splash Fridays and Saturdays – Free live music from Philly’s finest acoustic artists

·       Franklin Square Fountain Show­ – Free performances every 30 minutes

·       Philly Mini Golf presented by IBEW Local 98 and Parx Liberty Carousel

·       Once Upon A Nation Storytelling Bench

·       Daily Fun and Games – Free fun, games, and 15th Season surprises

The seven acres of Franklin Square has become integral to the health and wellness of individuals and the community particularly during the past year.
