Everyone Is Entitled To My Opinion On Pets and Life

by Paul Big Bear
Hello Friends,
Did you have a pet when you were young? A dog, cat, hamster, perhaps you had fish? Over the years I had quite a menagerie, not only dogs and cats but squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, raccoons, birds, fish, and a frog to name several. All math majors as they all went forth and multiplied. I won several fish at a carnival taking them home and setting up a small aquarium with pebbles, rocks, a sunken ship, and a few shells. I loved feeding them and watching them swim in and out of the rocks and the boat, imagine my surprise when I went to feed them one day and found at least twenty more fish swimming in and out of the rocks, no one told me Guppies did that, I was really impressed by the time Flopsy and Mopsy (my rabbits) began showing their math skills.
Puppies, kittens, and don’t forget the white mice. I grew up learning Animal Husbandry first hand, by the time I was a teenager I was working around horses, cows, and other farm animals, these animals learned math in a big way. I will never forget witnessing the miracle of birth. Mice and hamsters seem to shy about birthing, cats like to hide (in the laundry basket full of clean laundry is not a very popular place with parents but the cats like it. Horses and cows sometime share it with people who need to go to great lengths to help. I remember watching a colt being born, a very long, tiring, and yet fascinating process, once out it seems this wobbly creature is far from a majestic horse running on the range, then in short time it is on its feet following its mother everywhere.
I was present for the birth of my son, watching as he came into this world, eyes closed, tiny fists clenched, and letting us know that his lungs and voice were in great shape. Yes the miracle of life never ceases to amaze me. NASA excitedly announced they found evidence of water on Mars proving there may be life on the angry red planet. Life is special it is exciting, that is why when I hear politicians denounce Texas for standing fast against abortion saying “To do so is almost un-American.” Really! Let me ask you this; how would the world differ if your mother had chose abortion over the miracle of birth and the love of life?
