Thanksgiving is the time to be thankful for what you have but for a lot of folks in the region it’s about football as well. Before the Philadelphia Eagles got trounced by the Detroit Lions, the region’s high school teams got together and played their rivalry games. Some are classic matches like Lincoln vs Father Judge which is always played at Lincoln High School in Northeast Philadelphia
Father Judge was the favorite to win this game, and they did , by a score of 35-14. They dominated right from the first quarter. When Lincoln got lucky and scored a touchdown, the Judge offense answered right back. The crowd was mostly for Lincoln. at least what was occupied around the bleacher area, was wearing black and gold, Lincoln colors.
Kickoff was at 10:00 AM and the game was non stop. About two hours of football got played. While most people were there to see a specific team, there were some that just wanted to see a high school game and traveled up Cottman Avenue from Northeast where they were playing Central. Some fans got into the game more than others, by painting their faces.
