Riding a bike is fun but riding a bike for along distance can be grueling. That is exactly what happened this past weekend with the Tour de Shore, as hundreds of bicyclists rode 65 miles from the Irish pub in Philly to the Irish Pub in Atlantic City. It was done for charity , to benefit Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund.
This money raised from this charity bike ride goes to children in need in the area, and the families of fallen first responders who need a helping hand. During the 2015 ride, over $700,000 was raised and they hope to beat this years total. The ride takes several hours and has a police escort. hundreds of people stop what they are doing to cheer on the riders as they pass their location.
This event has been going on for almost 30 years. 2300 bikers this year have signed on to do the ride. Add to that hundreds of support team and you have the ingredients of a successful event.
