Residents that need emergency city services are being asked to use a cell phone and not a landline to call 911. There is a switching issue with Verizon, which takes care of the phone service coming into the city call centers. The technicians are being called in to help fix the problem. This issue first started today,  November 5 2018 just after 1:30 PM.  There is no timeline as to when the problem will be fixed.  911 works fine in some areas of the city from landlines but not in others.   that is why it is best to use a cell phone.
