Gas Station Employee Fired For Dealing In Fake Money In Southampton

Lucas Delavan

by Alex Lloyd Gross

An employee is a person placed in a trusted position. Few positions of trust are as beholden as a cashier working with little to no supervision. The employee is paid a salary in exchange for giving change and goods and services for their employer.  That concept was apparently lost on Lucas Delavan.

He was hired by the Giant Supermarket to perform the duties of a cashier at their  filling station  on Second Street Pike in Southampton. He decided to allegedly help distribute counterfeit money. He either gave this money to customers or he replaced deal money with counterfeit cash . He was caught by his employer when they found $180.00  missing.

Delavan was questioned by police and searched. Fake $20.00 bills were found in his possession. At this time he is being charged with forgery.  More charges could be forthcoming, police said.  He was processed and released, police said.
