A fire erupted in a commercial business on the 4100 block of Street Road just before 9:00 AM today. Police in the township were responding to help and one of those officers was involved in an accident at the intersection of Bridgewater and Byberry Roads.  The officer, who we are not naming, was not hurt and neither was the other driver, however, both vehicles were totaled.

The officer got out of his wrecked van and took charge, directing traffic  away from the scene.  It is unknown who was traveling on what road. How ever, a woman that works in a nearby business said the officer had lights and sirens on. The passenger car had damage to the front end and the police van had damage to  the passenger side. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

Police spokesperson Glenn Vandegrift said at the scene he was not sure what was going on as he just arrived. The scene was cleared within one hour. This is an indication that it was not serious.
