“Umbrella Man” Breaks Into Port Richmond Store For Cigarettes

Just about everything is caught on video, including one male who broke into a Dollar General store on the 3500 block of Cedar Street during the early morning hours of February 28, 2023. Apparently, he was not smart enough to operate an umbrella and it gets caught in the sliding doors. Police released video this week showing the theft.
The male forced open the front doors of the store but cannot get his umbrella through. He then rushes inside and uses a hammer to break a case containing cigarettes. The value is $480.00 police said. He uses a small bag to load his loot and then runs away. He leaves with his folded umbrella under his arm. He just committed a felony by breaking in but only took a few cartons of smokes.
