Effective April 15, 2024 and lasting 30 days, police will flood the North Broad Street corridor of the city. This is due to an uptick in accidents and injuries on the stretch of Road, from city hall to Cheltenham Avenue.

Statistics show a concerning number of accidents on North Broad Street. Between April 1, 2023, and
March 31, 2024, there were 1,601 crashes, 52 involving pedestrians, and 9 fatalities. The Philadelphia
Police Department aims to significantly reduce these numbers through this focused enforcement
effort.Deployment and Visibility, police said.

Police said they will now target illegal parked cars, which take up space and cause vehicles to double park on the street. Vehicles will be ticketed and towed, where allowed.

A zero-tolerance approach will be taken towards violations of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Motor
Vehicle Code, parking regulations, and city ordinances. Special attention will be paid to no-parking
zones and keeping traffic lanes clear to improve overall traffic flow.

Usually, when someone commits a traffic infraction, police can write for other violations as well, such as expired inspection, improper tinting or even ornamental lighting . This kind of lighting, which could feature red or blue fog lights or headlights is not legal for street use. This lighting was designed for car shows .
