Warminster Male Convicted By Jury Of Multiple Rapes Of Children

Umair Mir, of Warminster went to trial and was found guilty by a jury of his peers. He was convicted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a person less than 16 years of age, statutory sexual assault of a child less than 16 years old by a person over 11 years older, aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child less than 13 years old, aggravated indecent assault of a child less than 16 years old, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old.

Two girls, who were sisters were raped by Mir many times over several years, authorities said.. The trial lasted three days. During the court proceedings, the jury was told that Mir had raped the two sisters in a house that he controlled multiple times, in every room of the house. The abuse stopped only when one of the sisters confided in her brother. Not knowing what to do, the brother told Mir’s wife. She reported the abuse to the high school where the two were now attending. The school notified police, who started an investigation in December 2023.

The investigation found that one of the girls was first sexually assaulted by Mir when she was 12 years old and the other when she was about 10 or 11. For about five years, the girls were raped and sexually abused by Mir about two to three times a week. During the trial, others who lived in Mir’s home corroborated some of the details. Evidence that linked Mir to the sexual abuse was also presented during the trial.

Sentencing will be done after he meets with the Sexual Offender Assessment Board. It is scheduled for September 8, 2024.. Mir is 39 years old.
