Flipped Van Causes Bristol Pike To Close In Bensalem

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Bristol Pike is closed between Bensalem Boulevard and Haunted Lane after a van hit a utility pole about 3:00 AM. The force of the crash broke the pole in two, causing the top half of the pole to be suspended by wires.

The driver sustained non life threatening injuries and was not trapped in the vehicle, police said. There were no passengers in the van, which was owned by McClain Brothers, a plumbing and heating contractor.

PECO will have to get a crew out to replace the pole which could take several hours. Bristol Pike will remain closed until the truck arrives, the old pole is removed, and a new one is put in its place. The electrical wires will have to be re strung. Look for intermittent power outages in the immediate area due to this incident.

Video footage shows the van traveling towards Croydon, when the crash happened. It is unknown why the driver hit the pole.
