Legacy Band Sweet Comes To Sellersville Theater Monday

by Alex Lloyd Gross

The band Sweet, famous for hits like “Fox On the Run, Ball Room Blitz and Love Is Like Oxegyn is going to be playing a show at the Sellersville Thater Monday, July 28, 2025. There are no original band members left, so why go?

“We are a legacy of the band Sweet” said drummer Richie Orono. .In my opinion this group is The Sweet… hand picked and dangerous, the closest thing to the original which Mick, Brian & myself put together. I came out of retirement because I couldn’t stand seeing Sweet’s legacy be mis-represented as if it was like some Vegas side show, my band is the real deal” That is a statement from founding member Steve Priest.

Onori , said “We are not a tribute band. We are not a cover band, tribute bands wear wigs and try to be the band. We are the band”. In April of 2018 Sweet played Havana New Hope and Richie was the drummer in that band.

“You can expect to hear most of the songs that Sweet did, Action, Love Is Like Oxygen, but we’re not going far back enough to play “Coca”, Onori laughed.

The band will be on stage for about 75 to 90 minutes taking care of business. It is important to Onori to preserve the legacy of Sweet. According to Onori, the band has been playing to decent size crowds who really seem to like the show. “After the show we like to come out to the merch table to say hello:, he said.

A few tickets remain and you can pick them up at the Sellersville Theater box office day of show., or you can go here.
