CROYDON, PA — An early morning blaze in Croydon has been ruled an act of arson after investigators determined it began in a work van before spreading to a nearby home.

The fire erupted around 5:15 a.m. Friday on the 700 block of Cedar Avenue. A Bristol Township police officer, in the area on an unrelated call, spotted the flames, radioed for help, and alerted sleeping residents inside the home. All occupants were able to escape unharmed.

When firefighters arrived, the van was fully engulfed and the flames had already reached the house. Crews were able to knock down the fire quickly, but two firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze.

The Bristol Township Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation in coordination with township police detectives. The suspect has not yet been identified, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“This was a deliberate and dangerous act that endangered lives,” officials said.
