Lead Guitarist Michael Schenker brought his long awaited show to the Kewsick Theater in Glenside PA this past week. Schenker was the lead guitarist for UFO in the 1970’s. He was responsible for the lead guitar solos on Rock Bottom, Doctor Doctor, Lights Out and many others. His show was only UFO songs. He played nothing from his solo career and nothing from his stint with the Scorpions.
While UFO are finished, Schenker is not. He brought down the house from the opening number , Natural Thing to the last note of Too Hot To Handle. Schenker likes to perform just inches away from his fans, and his show on September 17 was no exception. He would fist bump those down front and tease them with the gift of a guitar pick.

He played those iconic solos just inches away from people. All of his guitar tricks and secrets were exposed. Most of the crowd was older, and most were in either UFO or Schenker T shirts. From the first note, everyone who was able to stand was standing. This is not a concert that someone watches from their seat.
Schenker was dressed in his signature Russian hat, which he rarely takes off. He kept the audience banter to a minimum. The show was not sold out but a respectable crowd came out to bear witness to this guitar master.

He recently played Europe and his fans in North America were waiting for the concert announcement that would bring him close to their town. If he lands anywhere near your area, you are strongly urged to go see him. Passing up this show would be doing ones self a disservice.
