BENSALEM, PA — Fire and rescue crews are working to free a trapped occupant following a serious early evening crash involving a tractor-trailer on southbound Interstate 95 near the park-and-ride facility.
Authorities said a passenger vehicle became pinned underneath the trailer portion of a commercial truck, trapping at least one person inside. Firefighters are using hydraulic rescue tools, commonly known as the “jaws of life,” in an active extrication effort.
Fire departments from Bensalem, Croydon, and Newportville are on scene, along with Bensalem Emergency Medical personnel. The severity of the occupant’s injuries has not yet been determined.
Pennsylvania State Police are also at the scene and will investigate the cause of the crash. Southbound traffic on I-95 is experiencing significant delays as crews continue rescue operations.
This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
