NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Firefighters in Newtown Township quickly contained an early-morning house fire Sunday after neighbors alerted authorities to a possible emergency involving an injured resident.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 6:15 a.m. to the 2200 block of Society Place for reports of a residential fire. According to initial reports, neighbors called 911 after their home security camera captured video of a male resident outside the home appearing injured and covered in blood.

Upon arrival, firefighters located the man and determined he was suffering from burns and cuts sustained inside the residence. Crews then entered the home and rapidly extinguished the fire, which officials said was contained to a first-floor bedroom.

The injured resident was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities have not yet released the cause of the fire, and the incident remains under investigation.
