A one alarm fire caused substantial damage to a house at 514 Philmont Ave. in Lower Southampton  Pa, earlier today, August 10 2020. One person was taken to the hospital in serious condition, officials at the scene said.  The fire  is still under investigation and a cause has not been determined. This particular dwelling sits at the end of a very narrow driveway, which hampered fire operations,  officials said. It was not possible to get a fire engine up the driveway, so companies had to stretch hoses a longer distance from fire hydrants to  bring water to the fire.  Philmont Avenue was closed in both directions for over three hours, until fire trucks could be pack up and driven away.  Fire crews from as far away as Lower Makefield were called in to cover local stations that were operating at the fire.
