Region Recovers After Torrential Storm

by Alex Lloyd Gross

At 6:30 PM there was a bit of unease in the air. By 7:30 PM the sky over New Jersey was dark grey and winds were starting to pick up. By 8:00 PM Roads were flooded and tree limbs were snapped. Some hit cars or homes, others simply fell into yards.

In Upper Moreland, there were people rescued from their vehicle after driving down flooded Byberry Road. In Bensalem, Station Avenue was not passable and in the Croydon section of Bristol Township, The Neshaminy Brewing Company on Cedar Avenue had a partial roof collapse.

According to John Brennan, the owner of he building, machines that work with tin were damaged. A large amount of rain pooled on the roof, causing a collapse. The entire incident started with a fire alarm. The fire department arrived, they found it was indeed much worse.

Haz Mat crews were called to dyke off storm drains for any oils that were heading into the storm drains. There were no injuries. Private contractors were on scene throughout the night pumping water and insurance adjusters were working with Brennan to adjust the loss. There were no injuries, which is what is important, Brennan said.
