On September 14, 2024, a woman was at the Comfort Inn located on Lincoln Highway. While she was in the parking lot, a male approached her and pepper sprayed her in the face, to facilitate a purse snatch robbery, police said. After the male got the purse, he got into a white car and drove away.
Police checked security cameras and found the suspect and got his tag number, which they entered into a computer as being wanted for a felony robbery. The tag belonged to Horace Clay. of Philadelphia. Using License plate readers, police tracked the car as it drove away.
That vehicle was spotted in Yeadon, Delaware County and a car stop was initiated. The driver was Horace Clay and police said he admitted to the robbery. Police found the pepper spray used in the vehicle. Police did not say if they recovered the purse or any contents, which included cash, credit cards and personal identification.
Clay was charged with robbery , simple assault and theft. He was sent to the Bucks County Prison under $25,000 bail or 10 percent.
