In September of 2023, Raymond Wright went to the CVS on Welsh Road and filled up a red shopping basket. He then walked to the front of the store and out of the store without paying for anything, police said. He fled in a pickup truck which was stopped by police in a neighboring town,.
The officer saw the basket in the car and then the suspect, latter identified as Wright, backed up , almost hitting the officer. No pursuit was started but police knew who he was. Eventually, he was arrested in Maryland and Lower Moreland Twp had a warrant out for him.
Wright was brought back, arraigned on just under $100,000 bail and he was remanded to the Montgomery County Prison. He has a long history of theft and assault cases going back at least 10 years across the state, including Bucks, Chester and Lancaster Counties.
