Amber Howard used to play basketball at Benslem High School a few years ago. She graduated and is now attending University at Buffalo, home of the 2025 Women’s WNIT Champions. She currently plays for their team. Howard returned to host a three hour camp where she taught basic skills to children of the community,
Basketball is complicated to play. You must bounce the ball while walking. As you are doing that you have to prevent the other team from taking the ball from you. “A lot of children have problems dribbling the ball, I teach that and then we go from there,” she said.
Sen. Farry, who represents parts of Bucks County, including Bensalem, is a sponsor of the Amber Howard Basketball Camp this year. “I’m proud to sponsor this basketball camp and to support young leaders like Amber, who are committed to giving back to their community,” said Farry.
At this camp, there were children of grades K-8 , some have never played before and others show talent. All have benefited from the advice given by Howard.
She may like basketball but she is going to school for nursing. This is the second camp she has done, the first was in Bristol. Each of the attendees got a bag of goodies as well as some pizza at the end of the camp. Howard said she will do a third camp next year.
