The Philadelphia Distance Run to Cause Road Closures and Detours on Sunday
PHILADELPHIA — On Sunday, September 21, 2025, the Philadelphia Distance Run 5K and Half Marathon will cause significant road closures and traffic disruptions in the city. The event will affect major roads including Kelly Drive, Falls Bridge, Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, and the Ben Franklin Parkway.
The race route is as follows: The race starts at 2200 Ben Franklin Parkway (eastbound), goes around the south side of Logan Circle, and then heads west on the Parkway to Kelly Drive. Runners will turn left onto Falls Bridge, then left onto MLK Drive to the 7-mile turnaround marker at parking lot #6. The course continues west on MLK Drive before turning right at Falls Bridge, then right again onto Kelly Drive. The race finishes on Kelly Drive in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps.
Key Traffic Information:
- Detours around Eakins Oval will begin at 3 a.m.
- Detours in all other areas of the race route will begin at 5 a.m.
