Fire Officials were called to a duplex on the 9400 block of Kirkwood Rd. in the Far Northeast section of the city. About 2:15 PM fire crews arrived and found a two story duplex well involved in fire. All companies on the initial alarm went into service and fire still was not under control at press time..
The building next door, another duplex with a garage is on fire as well. There were no reports of any injuries and preliminary searches showed all occupants were out of the house. Local streets in the neighborhood were closed so that fire hose could be charged down the block.
A cause has not yet been determined. Fire crews were told that containers of gasoline stored at the property could have contributed to the fire. There was no word on any injuries. The original structure imploded on itself, causing all firefighters to evacuate the building.
