Fire Disrupts Traffic In Fox Chase

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Firefighters were called to a building fire on the 7900 block of Rockwell Avenue earlier today about 12:45 PM. When they arrived at a car shop, there were several vehicles on fire and getting water on the fire was a problem. The building was not damaged in the incident but several cars were burned beyond recognition.

The water problems were fixed by using hydrants in the neighborhood to shuttle water to where it was needed. To compound that issue an idiot driving a pick up truck drove over fire hose near the coupling which placed the lives of firefighters in jeopardy. The reason was he had to pick up children at a school that was not in any danger.

The cause has not been determined. Extra equipment dispatched for water supply or manpower was quickly returned. Bystanders walked up to a fence to look down on the property to see what was going on, as thick white smoke billowed through the immediate area. No injuries were reported.
