Home Care Nurse Arrested For Child Abuse In Bensalem

A nurse who was assigned to watch over an endangered child at a home on Locust Avenue in Bensalem was arrested after she was caught on camera allegedly abusing the very child she was to protect. This started when the child’s mother reviewed security footage from inside her home and saw the nurse, identified by police as Cindy Dresser, physically abusing the child.

That child went to Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia (CHOP) for evaluation and treatment, police said. The abuse included hitting the child, tossing the child within the crib and sleeping on the job. Dresser , police said also is accused of taking out a tracheotomy tube and failed to promptly reinsert it, causing the child to struggle to breathe.

Police secured an arrest warrant for Dresser who was stopped by police in Warwick Twp. The discovered her arrest warrant and took her into custody for Bensalem authorities. She is charged with felony child endangerment. Her bail was set at $2,000,000 /10 percent.
