Former Daycare Worker Charged With Sex Crimes In Upper Southampton

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Mark Charles Stump, 68, of Warminster Heights, was charged with aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 13, and indecent exposure, among other charges. This stems from when he worked at the Maple Leaf Learning Center, in Upper Southampton.

Police were contacted by an adult female who told them that she had inappropriate contact with Stump back in 2007 through 2010. She was between 11 and 13 years old at that time, police said.

Stump is accused of following the girl home from middle school, when she was no longer at the daycare center. According to police, this happened several times. During those encounters, Stump allegedly would engage in sexual contact with the girl. She even saw him at her soccer games and he left gifts for her at her house. Those gifts made her nervous and uncomfortable, police said.

Police spoke with Stump who allegedly admitted to the contact. He was arrested earlier this week. His bail was set at $75,000 unsecured.
