The second annual Amber Howard basketball camp was held for kids yesterday at Schaffer Middle School on Hulmeville Rd. Howard, who played basketball for Bensalem High School gives back to the community by teaching skills to students even after she graduated and is attending college.
“About 50 kids showed up, we put the word out through schools and with social media. We teach and work with kids at all levels of the game”, Howard said. While this event was held at a middle school, some students who play basketball for Bensalem High School came out to help as coaches.
When you are a child, getting the technique to play the game effectively is time consuming. Howard and her team taught the kids how to keep the ball away from an opponent, how to properly shoot and how to take the ball away from an opponent.
The clinic cost about $35.00 and after it was done, snacks were provided.
