Woman Charged With Writing $850,000 In Bad Checks


Jessica Babb is charged by Hatboro Police with writing an estimated $850,000 in worthless checks after she told them that she was expecting to get a huge settlement from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia after the hospital mixed up the records of her child’s medical condition.

Police launched their investigation when it was determined that the Hatboro Federal Savings was defrauded when the worthless checks were written from their bank. So far police found four checks that totaled $850,000.

The checks were all written to family members who believed her story. The investigation proved there never was a lawsuit and CHOP did nothing wrong. She used that money to pay other people. She also wrote another worthless check to a car repair service in the amount of $5000.00 that has yet to be repaid .

Police said she turned herself in late last month and was released on $100,000 unsecured bail. Babb is charged with writing four bad checks. Hatboro Police are still investigating to see if other people may have been issued checks that did not clear from Jessica Babb.
