The Bensalem Owls played a game Saturday night against the Council Rock South Golden Hawks. To say this was not the teams finest hour would be an understatement. During the first quarter, the team threw interceptions and fumbled the ball more times than can be counted. It seemed that just about every time a Council Rock player touched the football, they put it into the end zone. The final score was 42-7.
This game was supposed to happen Friday night but due to weather, it was postponed. It was a conference home game for Bensalem and it started at 6:00 PM as opposed to a normal 7:00 PM start. Prior to the game homage was paid to fallen Philadelphia Police Office Shane Seiber, who lived in Bensalem and was killed last week in West Philadelphia.
By halftime, the score was 35-0. By the third quarter, Bensalem held Council Rock to seven points and did not allow them to score at all during the fourth quarter. The final quarter is where Bensalem score their only points.
Council Rock now stands at 4-3 while Bensalem falls to 2 and 6. Bensalem’s next game is Oct 23 at Souderton. Council Rock next plays Plymouth Whitemarsh.
