Two Vehicle Crash Causes Problems Overnight In Northeast

by Alex Lloyd Gross

At approximately 12:20 AM today a two vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Frankford and Rhawn Streets. Police fire and ems were called to the scene, where two males in different cars each sustained an injury in the crash.

One vehicle was south on Frankford Ave, while the other was west on Rhawn Street. Both drivers claim to have had a green light. Both refused an ambulance but said they would get treatment later.

Prior to the arrival of an ambulance and fire truck, four tow trucks had converged on the scene and the drivers were involved in a heated argument over who was going to take what vehicle. Some of the trucks were positioned in front of the vehicles, to stake a claim, with the lift ready to be hoisted.

The city of Philadelphia is horrible when it comes to response time for accident, in certain areas. A late response by police allows predatory tow trucks to move vehicles prior to the arrival of police. The tow rotation system only works if an officer is there. An officer did arrive and used the tow rotation system.
