Pedestrian struck and killed on Street Road in Bensalem hit and run

A pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on the 1700 block of Street Road,  early February 20, 2019.  According to preliminary reports from police, a driver was traveling east on Street Road, when for unknown reasons, they struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was thrown several feet from impact. The car, continued to travel in an easterly direction, and snapped a utility pole.  The pole snapped and half of the pole was laying in the eastbound lanes of Street Road, about 30 feet from where the pedestrian came to rest.  A second vehicle struck the pedestrian, and pulled over. The driver of that vehicle then got out, saw what happened, and started yelling into her phone, she then got back into her vehicle and left. police have no idea of who she is.  If you have any information on her you are urged to call (215) 633-3719.

The original striking vehicle then continued and struck a sign where it too came to rest, it’s front end completely smashed.  The driver had no passengers in the vehicle and was investigated for a possible DUI.as is standard in serious crashes.  After an investigation, DUI is not suspected in this case. . Traffic in the area is being detoured for the next several hours along Virginia and brown Avenues. Expect delays in the immediate area.  Even though the pole was snapped, there is no power outage in the area.
