Cops: Southampton Man Charged with Attempted Homicide in Stabbing

Upper Southampton Police, after a an assist from Philadelphia Police, arrested man on attempted homicide and related offenses Sunday afternoon.

Johnathan Soldo, 33 of Southampton, police say stabbed a man in the chest on the 1000 block of Woodbourne Dr. Sunday.

Bucks County Radio dispatch advised Upper Southampton Police, Philadelphia police were at Aria-Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital “with a stabbing victim.” Detectives quickly responded with interviewing the victim who told officers the following, according to a release;

While he was sitting in the backseat the witness’ vehicle,  Soldo turned and stabbed him in the chest A brief scuttle ensued, ending outside the vehicle and then the suspect left the scene.

The victim, according to court documents, was able to pull the knife from his chest and place it in the garage of the residence and was subsequently taken to the hospital by a witness to the alleged stabbing.

Police say the interviewed the witness at headquarters and stated that he, the victim and Soldo were sitting in his vehicle which was parked in the driveway of the residence.  Soldo, was sitting in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, pulled out a steak knife, turned around and stabbed the victim in the chest while he was sitting in the back seat.  After the suspect stabbed the victim he left the scene.

Police then contacted the homeowner on the 1000 block of Woodbourne Dr. and retrieved and secured the knife, court documents say.

Shortly thereafter, while authorities actively searched for the suspect, at approximately 10:35 Sunday morning Upper Southampton Police responded to a “suspicious individual” call in the area of Nicole Drive and Tina Drive, the probable cause affidavit notes.

Officers arrived on scene and took Soldo into custody and transported back to headquarters, police say.

At 4 pm Sunday, Soldo was arraigned by District Justice Vislosky and charged with Criminal Attempt Homicide, Criminal Attempt Murder, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Possession of an Instrument of Crime, Prohibited Offensive Weapons and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

Judge Vislosky set Soldo’s bail at 10 percent of $900 K  which he was unable to post and he was transported to the Bucks County Jail.

Soldo, according to court documents is scheduled for preliminary hearing on May 9 in front on Justice William J. Benz
