Bristol Borough Officer Removes ‘Despondent’ Women from Tracks

A Bristol Borough Policemen saved a woman from the train track overpass on Beaver Street.

According to a release, police were dispatched to the overpass at Beaver St Monday at 1:35 p.m. for the report of a disconsolate female on the tracks which Amtrak and SEPTA Regional Rail use.

Officers, upon arrival, observed the “… the women walking southbound on the tracks with a concerned citizen pleading with her to get off the tracks.”

Officer Ritchie Webb, according to the release, entered the Corson Street Overpass and went onto the tracks northbound in an attempt to reach the women, subsequently reaching her and physically removing  her safely from the tracks just prior to a SEPTA Train, which was traveling northbound, passed.

Moments later, the Amtrak Acela Train also going northbound passed, officials said

The women was then escorted from the tracks and then transported by Police to Lower Bucks Hospital for medical attention

During 2013 to 2014 this reporter published several stories about individuals dying by suicide on the train tracks running through Bristol borough and township.

In the Spring of 2014 SEPTA launched a media blitz and safety effort in attempts to educate the public about suicide prevention with signs posted at all Regional Rail Stations in the Philadelphia region.

Its safe to say, Officer Webb saved a life today.
