Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States has been impeached by a partisan vote in the house. President Trump did not participant[ate in the house proceedings and has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing.  This all stems from his trying to get the Ukraine to launch an investigation into Joe Biden in exchange for aide. Trump has repeatedly said “There was no quid pro quo”.

Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick has stated in the past that he did not feel there was enough evidence to warrant impeachment. He has voted against Trump on many issues, but stood shoulder to shoulder with fellow republicans on the impeachment issue. He is only the third president in history to be impeached. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton both had their impeachment from office stopped by the senate. That  is exactly what many think will happen with Mitch McConell, who has publicly said he will “dispose of this quickly,”.

McConnell is a conservative and supporter of Trump has said that he is no unbiased and will do what he can to kill the impeachment in the senate. Republican Senator Lindsay Graham has said that “I’m going to do what I can to make this go away”.

During the house testimony, representatives have called Trump a “Clear and present danger” . Those opposing this have called the two articles of impeachment “Made Up” and for over six hours both sides gave two minute remarks that solidified their position.   When Representative Tlaib publicly called for Trump’s impeachment just hours after being sworn in. Trump had not done anything as president at that time which would have been an impeachable offense. Republicans seized on this and repeated those accusations and rhetoric throughout the day.
