To err on the side of caution, the 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Philadelphia is cancelled. That information is the latest at 11:00 AM March 11 2020. The person confirming the cancellation is Mike Dunn, spokesman for Mayor Kenney.
The parade is just one of many events getting cancelled nationwide due to COVID-19. In the city, only one person is confirmed to have contracted this virus. Nearby, Bucks County has two confirmed cases and Burlington has two as well. Those people are self quarantined. Most people with this virus recover. Smaller township parades in suburban communities are still going to happen.
With the advent of social media, people see different news sites that say the Philly parade is unaffected. Those reports are incorrect and were published before the cancellation.
