Woman Pepper Sprays Lyft Driver Over Mask Issue

by Alex Lloyd Gross

When you go into someone else’s business, you should adhere to their policies.  A vehicle being operated by a ride share driver is an extension of that business, as they are an independent contractor, working for that business.

Penndel Police were called to a disturbance in the boro  on September 1,2021.  A driver for Lyft had picked up a female identified as Melanie Jackson  and Jackson was told to wear a face mask.   She refused and became belligerent.  The driver  pulled over to terminate the ride, and opened the door for Jackson to leave.  It was at that time, police said, that Jackson allegedly sprayed the driver with mace and walked away.

Jackson, no address or town given,  was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct
