Local Soccer Club Will Hold FUNdraiser To Help Them Get To West Virginia Playoffs

by Alex Lloyd Gross

A local Soccer Club From Hulmeville  recently won the State Championship    (President’s Club)  and that means they advance to the next round of play. That happens in West Virginia.  The boys on the team want to play there so bad it hurts. The only thing holding them back is money.  The club Hulmeville Dortmund consists of teenagers, all boys ages 16. They are good kids who direct their energy towards their passion, which is soccer.

They play at Hulmeville Soccer Club which is at Hoover Elementary School, on Trenton Road.  To get the entire team and their chaperones, coaches and managers to West Virginia is expensive. It is expected to cost upwards of $13,000.  To raise money  this team has started a Go Fund Me and done a coin toss. They are are good  fund raisers but there is something else .

They have come up with a novel idea to put the FUN in fundraiser.  According to Dee Tweedie, who is an assistant coach and a team manager, “We are going to have a fun day on Sunday, June 12th. This will be in Bristol, at the College campus parking lot off of Route 413 and Rockview Drive. “We have people that have helped us out by donating or reducing the cost of things to do there,” They will have face painting, a moon bounce, other inflatables, food and drink. There is also a car show. The hours are noon to 5:00 PM.

It is going to be an all weather event.  The cost to ride Tweedie said are a very reasonable $12.00 per person, which gets them a wristband to ride the different rides.  If the requisite money is not raised, some of the kids who worked so hard would have to be left behind. Tweedie said. The team will be in West Virginia from June 17th through June 21.

When the team wins in West Virginia,  they will hold another fundraiser, to get them to the final championship game which will be held in North Carolina
