Philadelphia Police called it a shootout . It was about 3:15 AM yesterday, July 12, 2022 when three males in a red car are accused of rolling through the area of 8th and Wolf Streets.  They spotted two males, and for whatever reason, started shooting at them, police said. The males fired back, and when it was done, the two males on the corner were shot dead.

A 22 year old male with a gunshot wound to the chest, was transported to Jefferson University Hospital by Police where he was pronounced at 3:46 A.M. The other victim, a 22 year old male was shot multiple times in the chest. He was pronounced dead by medics at the scene at 3:36 AM.

A police officer was about a block away and heard the shots. He saw a red car drive away and followed that vehicle, and radioed other officers.  When sufficient backup was there, that car was stopped at 3rd Street  and Oregon Avenue.  Three males were taken into custody. One gun inside the car was recovered.

Crime scene officers arrived and processed the car and towed it for a more thorough investigation.  While that is going on,  the ballistic team will examine the gun and ammunition found in the car to see if it matches with anything found at the scene. The scene at 8th and Wolf Streets was spread out over four different areas in that vicinity.  Several cars that were parked unattended sustained damage from gunshots. Windshields and windows were shatters and doors and fenders had bullet holes in them.

Police have not released the names of those taken into custody, nor have they released the names of the victims .
