Some Residents Left Scrambling In Winter Storm Aftermath

by Alex Lloyd Gross

As daybreak happened, people left their homes. Some were unscathed, others ventured outside to see downed tree limbs and police cars and fire trucks closing roads.

Many utility poles are down, which causes a strain on PECO crews. If they are out of the ground they need to be replaced with a new one. That process takes hours. Wires have to be de- energized, and disconnected, the old pole must be removed and then wires must be restrung. After all of that, then the power can come back on.
