Some Residents Left Scrambling In Winter Storm Aftermath

As daybreak happened, people left their homes. Some were unscathed, others ventured outside to see downed tree limbs and police cars and fire trucks closing roads.

Many utility poles are down, which causes a strain on PECO crews. If they are out of the ground they need to be replaced with a new one. That process takes hours. Wires have to be de- energized, and disconnected, the old pole must be removed and then wires must be restrung. After all of that, then the power can come back on.

In Bucks County, in Doylestown, Shady Retreat Road is still closed between Iron Hill Road and Burpee Road for a down tree. Edison – Furlong Road is still closed between Woodcrest and Sauerman Road for a down tree.

Bensalem Boulevard is still closed due to tree branches on live wires..

In Philadelphia, police released a statement, Columbus Blvd. (Right now) is open in both directions though water is beginning to take the right lanes of the north and south sides.  We expect to close very soon.

Kelly Dr, is closed from Falls Bridge to Hunting Park.

MLK is closed entirely.  There are 2 trees uprooted and leaning against the Strawberry Mansion Br.  Fairmount Park has been  notified..Lincoln Dr. is closed between Gypsy and Wissahickon.  The water has receded but the roadway is mud covered on the curves making it hazardous.  Streets department is notified and en route.  The water department has been notified to clear drains on Lincoln.  Right now only the left lane is passable.

In Lower Moreland, Philmont Ave near Red Lion and 232 will have puddles on the road. If was closed earlier.

Motorists that see barricades and nothing more should not move them. Moving a basrricade to drive down a street will get you fined or arrested.
