Gas Guzzlers Car Show Held At Bristol Firehouse

There was lots of fun at the Newportville Fire Company grounds on New Falls Road as the Gas Guzzlers rented the grounds for a car show. While the members will hold a separate unrelated car show next week, this show was run by the Gas Guzzlers.

On the grass and in front of the fire house bay, there were dozens and dozens of vehicles on display that you can see and also chat with the owners. Every car there has a story behind it. From vehicles that were passed on from generation to generation, to vehicles that were acquired years later.

George Wagner is the owner of a 1965 Chevy Impala that he bought in Washington state for $3500.00. He moved to Fairless Hills and had the vehicle trailered east. He rebuilt what needed to be rebuilt and the car has 84000 original miles on the V8 engine. “I do all the engine work on this, everything myself, I won’t let anyone else touch it,” Wagner said.

He looked in the glove box and found the original warranty car with the original owners name on it. Darryl VanderHaak, from Washington . He looked him up on the internet and made contact with him. It turned out that Mr. VanderHaak was going to come east for a baseball game and arrangements were made to show him the car. He offered the previous owner the opportunity to drive the car, but instead took his family for a drive when VanerHaak did not want to drive it.

When Wagner told him he replaced the steering wheel and had the original stored in his garage. At that time he gifted him with the original steering wheel. Wagner said he hopes to be at the car show run by the fire company next week.
