Two Arrests Made In Lower Merion Home Invasion Homicide

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Police in Lower Merion Twp. made an arrest of Kelvin Roberts after he was charged in a December 8, 2024 break in of a home and shooting two people, one fatally, after an attempt to steal guns that he thought were kept in the residence. He actually broke into the wrong house, police said.

Instead, he found Bernadette and Andrew Gaudio, who were sleeping in the house. Police said he shot Bernadette and when her son, Andrew tried to help his mother. He was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead. Bernadette survived and was in critical condition. Police said Andrew was shot five times, including once in the back of the head.

During a joint investigation by the Montgomery County Detective Bureauand the Lower Merion Township Police Department, dashcam footage from a Lower Merion Police Patrol vehicle was recovered, which captured one of the responding officers pulling in front of a white Hyundai Azera leaving the scene of the homicide. Despite the vehicle having a Pennsylvania registration tag that did not match the
car, detectives searching through Pennsylvania Department of Transportation records matched the vehicle to Roberts’ girlfriend. Police also observed a green Jeep Cherokee leaving the scene. It was later determined that the Jeep was owned by the victim. During the investigation detectives found the victim’s Jeep Cherokee on Sansom Street.

Charles Fulforth

A resident at the Sansom residence identified the driver of the white vehicle as Roberts, 42, of Philadelphia, and provided his phone number. Detectives obtained a search warrant of the Sansom Street residence where they found an empty Taurus gun box, various ammunition, a title for the white
Hyundai owned by Roberts’ girlfriend, a folder with paperwork for “Kelvin Roberts”. They also found a green jewelry box that was identified as having been stolen from the house.

Police said that cell phone records show Roberts cell phone and another cell phone traveling towards Lower Merion on the date and time in question. The other phone was registered to Charles Fulforth. Both males worked at Junkluggers, which is where they allegedly conspired to break into a house they thought had a lot of guns.

Fulforth was arrested last week. Roberts was taken into custody yesterday. Both are charged with murder and are being held without bail.
