Two juveniles sustained serious injuries after they were shot over the weekend. They were not related, police said.
The first happened August 31,2025 about 10:55 PM on the 5600 block of Summerdale Ave. Officers found a 14-year-old boy suffering from a single gunshot graze wound to his face. He was transported by police to St. Christopher’s Hospital and is currently in stable condition. According to the preliminary investigation, the victim and three other juveniles were walking along the block when a light-colored sedan approached and multiple shots were fired from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The victim was struck as he fled with the others. No arrest has been made, and the motive remains unknown. The case is being investigated by the Shooting Investigation Group.
The second incident was on September 1, 2025 about 1:22 AM. Officers got a report of gunshots on the 1500 block of Adams Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back. Police transported the victim to Temple Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was inside the residence with friends playing video games when several shots were fired through the front living room window, striking him. No arrest has been made and no motive has been identified.
Police are searching for video camera footage in both incidents. No description was released in either shooting.
