US Navy And Marines Celebrate 250 At Northeast V Washington Football Game

by Alex Lloyd Gross

The Northeast Vikings were victorious over the Washington Eagles , in a game played at Northeast High School. The final score was 22-18. Northeast had a touchdown recalled due to a penalty in the first quarter.

The weather threatened downpours which did not materialize. It did cause the cancellation of a scheduled Navy flyover, which would have happened during the National Anthem. Both the Navy and Marines were there, to help celebrate the 250th birthday of both branches of service. The US Marines Second Division Band played for the Vikings and then an impromptu jam session got both organizations dancing .

There were a lot of penalties for both sides. In lieu of the penalties, it was a close game. When Northeast scored a touchdown, Washington answered back with one of their own. The Northeast defense kept the Eagles from the end zone quite a few times, even though they kept pushing.
